International Fuel Technology, Inc.’s DiesoLiFT™ 10 Helps Combat Climate Change

Wednesday, 21 September 2011 11:57
ST. LOUIS, September 21, 2011 – International Fuel Technology, Inc. (IFT) (OTCBB:IFUE) announced today that use of its DiesoLiFT™ 10 fuel additive formulation helps combat climate change.

A recent report (1) by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) states that “scientific evidence and new analyses demonstrate that control of black carbon particles and tropospheric ozone through rapid implementation of proven emission reduction measures would have immediate and multiple benefits for human wellbeing.”

“This is exactly what DiesoLiFT™ 10 achieves when added to diesel fuel,” said Dr. Sergio C. Trindade, IFT’s Director of Science and Technology and 2007 Nobel Co-Laureate. “DiesoLiFT™ 10 reduces emissions of black carbon (soot) because it promotes fuller combustion of hydrocarbon fuels.”

The UNEP/WMO report further says that “black carbon exists as particles in the atmosphere and as a major component of soot, it has significant human health and climate impacts. At ground level, ozone is an air pollutant harmful to human health and ecosystems, and throughout the troposphere, or lower atmosphere, is also a significant greenhouse gas. Ozone is not directly emitted, but is produced from emissions of precursors of which methane and carbon monoxide are of particular interest here.”

“Again, the fuller combustion achieved with DiesoLiFT™ 10 cuts down the emissions of carbon monoxide, a precursor of ozone formation,” said Dr. Trindade.

“Thus, DiesoLiFT™ 10 helps combat climate change by lowering emissions of soot and carbon monoxide. In addition, emissions of carbon dioxide, the key greenhouse gas, and the natural result of full combustion are cut down per mile run due to DiesoLiFT™ 10’s fuel efficiency enhancement of diesel fuels. Furthermore, some of the carbon emissions due to DiesoLiFT™ 10 itself are recyclable due to its partly renewable nature,” concluded Dr. Trindade.

IFT is now actively bringing the emissions reducing benefits of DiesoLiFT™ 10 to the rail industry by helping its current rail customers reduce their carbon footprint.
