IFT Wins ‘Fuel Technology Specialist 2008/2009 Award’ from the Institute of Transport Management

ST. LOUIS, August 20, 2008 – International Fuel Technology, Inc. (IFT) (OTCBB: IFUE) today announced that it has received the prestigious ‘Fuel Technology Specialist 2008/2009 Award’ given annually by the Institute of Transport Management (ITM). IFT earned the award for DiesoLIFT™, its proprietary fuel additive technology designed to improve the performance of diesel and bio-diesel fuel blends.

This award follows the ‘Innovation in Fuel Technology Award’ presented to IFT last year by the ITM. The competition for last year’s award was emerging fuel technology companies, whereas the competition for this year’s award was established and renowned oil, chemical and fuel additive companies.

The ITM (www.itmworld.com) is a non-profit organization founded in the United Kingdom in 1977 to help monitor and improve the standards in the transport industry. The ITM works in unison with government, regulatory and academic bodies to encourage and promote professionalism in the transport arena through innovative research and communications programs. The ITM’s primary means to communicate with members and others in the transport industry is through its Transport Journal publication.

The Institute of Transport Management – Press Release

Birmingham 15th August 2008 - The Institute of Transport Management undertakes multiple in-depth research programmes each year in the fulfillment of its work as an accreditation body for the transport industry, land, sea and air.  Companies are assessed via a range of criteria, both generic and sector-specific, in order to determine which are contributing to the industry at the highest level and are thus worthy of recognition from the ITM.  Receipt of an Award from the Institute acts as a beacon not only to members, but to individuals and organisations unaffiliated with the ITM, including the wider public.  The Institute’s accreditation programme therefore plays a crucial part in bringing transport industry products and services to the attention of new markets and potential commercial partners.  In this way the Institute promotes high standards in the industry, assists its members and other interested parties in making the most of current offerings and ensures that companies which believe in quality are duly rewarded for their efforts.

The core factors which are taken into consideration during each research programme and which are pivotal in subsequent accreditation decisions are as follows: customer service; product innovation; research and development investment; environmental awareness; and vision of the future.  The Institute’s most recent research into the sphere of fuel technology confirmed its findings from this time last year that the field is being led by the American-owned International Fuel Technology.  The company scored highly across all elements of accreditation, but particularly for innovation and research and development.  Furthermore, the Awards Committee was impressed by the overall structure and ethos of the company, by the clear-thinking leadership and management of its commercial activities and by the top-to-bottom professionalism of its services.  The Institute is therefore delighted to announce that International Fuel Technology has won the 2008/09 Award for ‘International Fuel Technology Specialist’.

International Fuel Technology (IFT) is a relatively new company - having launched its products only in 2002 - but one which has successfully expanded its office representation and market penetration from its US origin to Europe and Asia, as well as extending distribution capabilities to Australia, South America and Africa.  It is easy to see why IFT has achieved such rapid development when the combination of its strong leadership and product quality is taken into consideration.  The company rightly shows an unshakeable faith in its pioneering multi-functional additive technology which enhances the efficiency of liquid hydrocarbon fuels.  In the current straightened circumstances of fleet operators, struggling with rising fuel prices and environmentalist pressures, the services provided by IFT take on a particular importance.  For, IFT enables fleet operators to tackle these challenges without resorting to wholesale changes in fuel type, engine configuration, or infrastructure.

IFT’s research and development of surfactant technology using internationally esteemed research facilities has resulted in the launch of DiesoLift, GasoLift and KeroLift product lines which are designed for gasoline, diesel and kerosene applications across a broad spectrum of end users, from stationary power generation and land transportation to marine uses.  These products deliver a vast number of benefits: enhanced fuel economy; corrosion protection; reduced maintenance costs; foaming prevention; longer engine life; decreased dangerous emissions; improved bio- fuel and oxidation stability; increased lubrication and detergency; and water exclusion.  Availing of this additive technology can thus make a significant impact on fuel efficiency and by extension, costs and environmental considerations.

In announcing the Award to IFT, Mr. Patrick Sheedy, Media & PR Director at the Institute, said: “We are at the moment in a curious situation in which speculation over global-warming has reached fever pitch yet governments and scientists are expressing grave concerns about the development of bio-fuels, which bring their own environmental problems along with additional socio-political complications.  Meanwhile, other alternative fuels haven’t really gotten off the ground, owing to lack of efficiency and practicality – and, indeed, investment.  This is why the methods and products of International Fuel Technology are absolutely critical, because they offer a “third way” for fleet operators to enhance fuel economy.  They offer a feasible and immediate route to environmental and financial improvement.”

“I would like to commend International Fuel Technology for tackling head-on the key issues facing fleet operators in these increasingly difficult times.  Our dependency on hydrocarbons is going to continue for the foreseeable future, but companies need to pay heed to environmental concerns as well as shaving costs down to the bare minimum.  IFT offers a workable means of accomplishing these aims; I therefore urge fleet operators and other interested parties to fully investigate the options available at IFT.  Doing so will contribute not only to commercial success, but to the ongoing battle to stave off environmental catastrophe.”
